A classic tjalk under sail

A classic tjalk under sail
Jacob van Berlijn is a tjalk, one of the great flat-bottomed sailing ships of the Low Countries. Where most of our projects are about living on the water, this one is about going out on it. Rigged with a tall mast and leeboards, she remains a true sailing vessel, and the work was done to keep her that way.
Varnish, timber and a tailored cover
On deck, timber hatches gleam under a deep, glossy varnish against weathered planking. Her name is set in cream lettering across a tailored dark sail cover, a small detail that shows how much care went into the parts of the ship that are usually overlooked.
A working ship, kept for pleasure
Seen from the water, Jacob van Berlijn is the picture of timeless Dutch elegance: low, graceful and made to sail, carrying centuries of maritime craft with effortless poise. A working ship, kept for pleasure, and ready for many more seasons on the water.
