[ Services ]

Every service you may need, under one roof.

We design, build, and finish every boat ourselves on the NDSM. One yard, one team, one standard, so every part of your boat answers to the same hand that drew it.

Design services

Every Woodies starts on paper. We handle the architecture, the engineering, and the permits, so the boat that gets drawn is the boat that gets built and the boat that gets approved.
Permits

Permits

We arrange the concept and environmental permits (omgevingsvergunning) to renovate or replace a houseboat or other floating structure, and we supply all the drawings and documents the application needs.
Naval engineering

Naval engineering

Stability calculations, structural design, resistance and propulsion, lines plans and cutting files. We also work with experienced naval engineers and are open to new collaborations.
Architecture & interior design

Architecture & interior design

Our in-house team designs the interior and exterior, makes the production drawings for the build and the 3D renders that let you see the boat before it exists. For larger projects we work with renowned naval architects.

Build

This is the yard at work. Steel hull, carpentry, rigging if you want to sail. We weld, cut, and fit it ourselves on the NDSM, to classification standard, so your boat is certified for the water it's made for. One team builds the whole thing, which is why the quality holds from the keel to the last joint.
Rigging

Rigging

New rigs and refits for traditional sailing ships, done together with experienced rigger Thomas de Nijs.
Classification

Classification

We bring your boat under class so it can be inspected, with all the documents: CE, ISO, TRIN, and RH for sailing cargo vessels.
Engine room & technical systems

Engine room & technical systems

The engine room and the boat's technical installations, fitted by the same team that builds the hull.
Steel construction & hull

Finish Services

A Woodies is made to last, and we keep it that way. Handled by the yard that built the boat, so it goes to the people who know every weld and every fitting. You own the boat. We stay on call.
Styling

Styling

We start from your lifestyle and wishes and work through moodboards, materials and colour advice. Where the ship has original items worth keeping, we build the new design around them, so the boat gets one clear identity.
Sustainable systems

Sustainable systems

Heat and water pumps, cork insulation and solar panels. We advise on what suits your boat and install it ourselves, using local materials with minimal emissions where we can.
Carpentry & fit-out

Carpentry & fit-out

The complete fit-out, interior and exterior, including kitchens, furniture and the technical work behind the panels. We work in a wide range of materials and advise on the ones with the smallest footprint.

permits
]

We handle the paperwork. You get on the water.

A well-built boat still needs the right papers before it can sail, moor or carry guests. We know the rules, the forms and the people who sign them, and we arrange the permits your boat needs as part of the build.

Not sure which permits your boat needs? Ask us at the intake and we list them in your quote.

At the monumental
NDSM shipyard

Woodies is located at the NDSM shipyard in Amsterdam Noord, established in 1915 and already a highly successful and innovative yard at the time. By keeping it a place where ships are made, we help preserve the history of shipbuilding in the city. You are welcome to visit during the build, so your wishes find their way into the finishing, and the ferry from Amsterdam Central takes only ten minutes.
