Our shipyard

A ship and interior carpentry company at the NDSM shipyard, building and renovating boats for the canals of Amsterdam and far beyond. We consciously take on projects of all shapes and sizes, from houseboats for life on the canals to sailing ships that make the journey to the Caribbean.

[Who we are]

Philosophy

All beautiful things begin with a vision, a dream. Ours lies in creating a unique concept, making the right material choices and paying attention to the finishing details. We work in a close-knit team where we complement each other, strive for knowledge and wisdom, and proceed thoughtfully.

Innovation

We aim to be as innovative as possible in sustainability: in materials, in energy and in building products that last. We reduce the footprint of our materials by sourcing locally with minimal emissions, and we strongly advocate solar panels, water and heat pumps.

A family company

A ship carpenter, a naval architect and engineer, an interior stylist and yoga instructor, and many more enthusiastic team members, each bringing their own perspective to every project. We thrive on teamwork, positive energy and perseverance, and on early Wednesday mornings we come together for yoga.
[Our values]
A shipyard where everything revolves around creativity, personality and sustainability.
We take your ship from an idea on paper to its maiden voyage, with everyone in our company contributing their ideas.

At the monumental
NDSM shipyard

Woodies is located at the NDSM shipyard in Amsterdam Noord, established in 1915 and already a highly successful and innovative yard at the time. By keeping it a place where ships are made, we help preserve the history of shipbuilding in the city. You are welcome to visit during the build, so your wishes find their way into the finishing, and the ferry from Amsterdam Central takes only ten minutes.

We are people who see opportunities and love life. As a result, we have also established several businesses alongside Woodies with various collaborations and disciplines where ships and craftsmanship remain at the core.
